An ordinary human possesses six primary sensors: the eye, ear, tongue, nose, body, and mind.
An ordinary human possesses six primary sensors: the eye, ear, tongue, nose, body, and mind.
Every perception a human experiences arises through these six sensors, and all understanding of the world is limited to the data received through them.
Frequency range of human sensory functions: Please use the link to view the references for the data given below.
Eye sensor (Vision)– 400 terahertz (THz) to 790 THz (visible light waves)
Ear sensor (hearing)– 20 Hz – 20 kilohertz (kHz) (Sound Waves)
Tongue sensor (tasting) –1-4 Hz (Delta waves)
Nose sensor (smelling) – 4-8 Hz (Theta waves)
Body sensor (touch) – 1-3 Hz and 18-32 Hz (Delta waves and Beta Waves)
Mind sensor (Mental perception) – between 0.5 Hertz (Hz) for deep sleep (delta waves) to around 30 Hz or higher for active thinking (beta waves)
Breakdown of brainwave frequencies:
Delta waves: 0.5 - 4 Hz (deep sleep)
Theta waves: 4 - 8 Hz (light sleep, deep relaxation)
Alpha waves: 8 - 12 Hz (relaxed, idle state)
Beta waves: 12 - 30 Hz (active thinking, alertness)
Gamma waves: 30 - 100 Hz (complex cognitive processing, learning)
Different animals possess different types of sensory organs beyond human perception.
Examples:
Electroreception: Sharks, rays, and dolphins can detect electrostatic fields
Magnetic fields: Robins and sea turtles can detect magnetic fields
Sensing nutrients: White-crowned sparrows and deer can sense whether their food has nutrients their body needs
Sensing heat: Some snakes can see heat, forming a thermal image of prey
Even when animals share similar sensory organs, their perception varies significantly:
Examples:
Echolocation: Bats, dolphins, and whales use high-frequency sound waves to locate objects
Infrasonic sounds (Sound below 20 Hz (human threshold of hearing)): African elephants use low-frequency calls to communicate
Ultrasonic sounds (Sound above 20 kHz (human upper limit of hearing)): Rodents and hummingbirds make ultrasonic calls
Variation of colors: dogs can see blue and yellow, but they are red-green color blind
The process of perception begins when a vibration (form) aligns with a corresponding sensory organ.
For example, when light waves (color patterns) resonate with the eye sensor, the eye begins to vibrate, activating vision.
Similarly, each sensory organ functions by resonating with the corresponding form of vibration.
(Please click here to see how the eye vibration (form) gets constructed starting from the smallest building block of energy (8 patterns of vibrations), which get constructed at the very moment.)
All sensory inputs are ultimately vibrations (known as form wave/vibration):
The eye receives color patterns.
The ear detects sound waves.
The nose senses odor molecules as vibration patterns.
The tongue perceives taste as chemical interactions.
The body feels touch through pressure waves.
The mind processes all these vibrations as mental formations.
At the next stage, all sensory vibrations (forms) merge with the telepathized name wave, generating the mind vibration. (Please click here to see how the names and forms wind up to create the mind vibration)
This mind vibration is what we experience as mind consciousness.
Merging of From vibration and Name vibration creates a new vibration - Consciousness
Due to ignorance and our acknowledgment of this mind vibration, duality arises—at that moment, an "external world" seems to exist for the "self" (the observer) to perceive.
This self-existence illusion gives rise to defilements—attachment, aversion (ill will), and delusion—which directly lead to suffering. – This is the First Noble Truth: The wisdom of suffering.
To cease suffering, wisdom must transcend the illusion of mind perception.
Only by fully understanding the natural process of sensory perception and recognizing how the five aggregates construct the final mind vibration—along with the unconscious aspect—can the cessation of suffering be achieved. The vibration of the color images/patterns aligns with the vibration of the eye; the eye begins to vibrate (resonate)—activating the eye faculty at that precise moment. All sensory functions would do the similar process. – This is the path to liberation of mind.
